What are tell tale signs that your gas fireplace is in need
of servicing?
- Black soot on glass
- Traces of soot on exterior frame or on top of glass panels
- Formaldehyde like odours when in operation
- Pilot light and flame shutting down
- In operation, deep orange flame with wisps of black smoke
- Black soot on exterior chimneys and venting
What Can You Do To Maintain Your Gas Fireplace?
- Follow operations manual for in home servicing and cleaning
- Vacuuming, inside fire box and surrounding areas
- Cleaning glass
What Servicing is Required?
- If a fireplace is in constant use then servicing is required once per year
- Otherwise every two years
Servicing involves
- Removing of glass
- Removing of logs
- Removing louvers when possible
- Cleaning with a duster
- Wiping down inside of fireplace
- Removing any loose paint
- Vacuuming burner section
- Cleaning pilot area
- Repainting if required
- Checking gaskets and glass seal
- Re-assembling
- Operations test
