General Tips you should  know!

Nip Them in the Bud
Increase your fresh herb harvest by cutting off any flowers that begin to form on the plant. This will encourage more leaves to grow, and can also improve overall quality. Your pesto sauce will thank you!

Bin There
To save space in your recycling bin, crush plastic and paper containers such as milk cartons and water bottles. This will also help keep them inside the bin rather than blowing down the street!

A Clear View
From Betty: For spotless windows, mix two tablespoons of cornstarch with one gallon of warm water. Wash and dry windows (no need to rinse). Your windows will be clean and free of streaks. Hint: use old sheets or towels (that haven’t been washed with fabric softener) to dry. (Some people also swear by adding one-half cup of vinegar to this mixture, and/or using crumpled newspapers for drying.)

Know the Drill
From Sandy: If you have to drill a hole in a plaster ceiling, place a paper plate over the drill bit before inserting it into the drill. The plaster will fall onto the plate instead of all over your face and floor.(A plastic lid will work, too.)

Vacuum Scents
To add a fresh scent to a room, add some fragrant spices to your vacuum cleaner bag and vacuum as normal. Cinnamon and Allspice are especially nice—or try tearing open a couple of teabags of a fragrant herbal tea, and add that to the bag.

Mole Resistance
When putting new plants in the ground, protect them from moles by lining the planting holes with hardware cloth.

Foiling Mirror Scratches
Hide scratches in the back of a mirror by covering them with aluminum foil, shiny side out. Affix the foil to the mirror by painting over it with clear shellac.

Lemon Twist
To keep your garbage disposal smelling fresh, occasionally drop a sliced fresh lemon or lime inside and grind it up.

Scrub-Free Cleaning
Instead of scrubbing baked-on grease and foods from pans and casserole dishes, sprinkle some powdered dishwasher detergent in them, fill with hot water, and let soak for at least a couple hours. After that they will be easy to wipe clean.

If a screw tends to come out of your eyeglasses, apply clear nail polish over it.

Use your old plastic playing cards in the workshop.
Use them for spreading glue, scrape off excess glue or wood filler and great for a shim.
