FIXING A SHOWER CURTAIN

Here's an easy way to give new life to that shower curtain: You can patch those torn places in a plastic curtain (where the rings have pulled away) simply by cutting a 2" x 1" piece of clear contact paper and folding it lengthwise over the top of the tear to fully cover the rip and shower ring hole. Then take a hole puncher and punch directly over the ring hole. This will give you a near invisible fix and save the cost of a new curtain! This trick can save you some money, especially if you have kids or a husband who are always pulling on the curtain. You can also wash it in the washing machine with a towel and a small amount of bleach and detergent. BUT, be careful about putting them in the dryer. Be sure to use a LOW heat setting as they can, and will, melt on a high heat setting.
Been there, done that - it's not a pretty sight!)

MAKING A VIDEO TAPE OF YOUR POSSESSIONS

You'll need an inventory of your household possessions if your home suffers a casualty, such as a fire, flood or theft, in order to make an insurance claim or take a tax deduction to cover your losses.
The best and easiest way to do this is to simply make video tape of your valuables and describe them on the soundtrack. Be sure to include serial numbers where appropriate. Of course, be sure to keep this tape in a secure place where it won't be vulnerable to the same casualty that strikes your home. Give a copy to a trusted friend or family member, or better still, place it in your safe deposit box. Be sure to update the tape periodically as you will most likely be adding or deleting valuables as time goes on.

Adhesive Tape

To remove a broken light bulb out of a socket:
First turn of the power, then stick a soft bar of soap (or raw potato) into the jagged edges of glass and then use the soap (or potato) as a handle to unscrew it easily and safely. ... after the lightbulb's been removed
"Don't eat the potato, don't wash anyone's mouth out with that soap".

Remove Candle Wax from a Carpet
Freeze the wax with an ice cube. Carefully remove as much as possible with a dull knife. Then apply a dry-cleaning solvent (available at your local hardware store) to the wax spot. Wait several minutes, then blot up the solvent and the wax with a paper towel.

If any candle wax remains, cover the stain with two paper towels and use a warm, dry iron to melt the wax. When the paper towels become saturated, put new ones over the stain and soak up more. If needed, reapply solvent to the stain and blot. Continue until you have a wax-free carpet.

Note: Before you apply ANY new cleaning formulas to your carpet, test them out. Apply a bit of cleaning product to an inconspicuous place on your carpet. Press down on the wet spot with clean, absorbent cloth or paper towels. Count to ten. If any dyes have bled onto your towel from the carpet when your time is up, find a different cleaning product.

I was rolling down Speedway Blvd. (in Tucson, Arizona) in my extremely illegal Chrysler Cordoba, tags are from 9/98 and are issued from Pennsylvania. All of the sudden ~~BooooM~~ thump-thump-thump. So I pulled off the road, and to my amazement the tire is still inflated, but there is a huge mass of rubber hanging loose. Can't leave the car in a parking lot for fear the police will tow it to a junk yard. So I telephoned a friend and we took a trip to Wally World (Wal-Mart). I quickly purchased a roll of Duct Tape and we went back to the beast. After removing the tire I made several rounds over the entire tire, then put it back on and proceeded to drive almost five miles back to my house. After parking the car I checked the tire and noticed that not only was it still fully inflated, but the Duct Tape was still intact. I had to cut the Duct Tape off of the tire to take the attached pictures. This has made me a true believer! --- Kenneth LeMaster
