The problem: Extension ladders don't give you a place to set the paint bucket. The solution: A piece of 3/4-inch plastic pipe or a broom handle slid into a rung that offers an extra hand to hold the bucket. Just notch the end of the pole to keep the bucket's or can's handle from sliding off.

Filter Dirty Paint

If you're like most of us, you have a few cans of pricey paint that you're afraid to use because they contain rust, chips and lumps of hardened paint. Refresh that paint by filtering it through old nylon pantyhose using the method shown. You can usually get a new empty can from a local paint store for a few bucks.
