You can crush up your egg shells and place them around the base of your tender plants. Apparently the slugs and snails do not like to rub their belly across them. Another one is a jam jar with beer in the bottom. You sink the jar half into the soil near your tender plants. Now why this works I am not sure. We have heard of gardeners going around in the early hours with a torch and manually removing these slimy things. Is this where the saying comes from “the early bird gets the slug?”
